Everlytic this year showed its support for Mandela Day by joining the Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa Million Meal Challenge.
The challenge consisted of a massive three-city (Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban) volunteer meal packaging drive that saw thousands of corporate volunteers attempt to package one million meals in four 67-minute shifts.
Says Walter Penfold, MD of Everlytic: “The team at Everlytic is focused on the fact that Mandela Day is not only about doing good, it is about service. It is an opportunity to build upon Mr Mandela’s lifelong belief that we must live to serve every day, in whatever we do. What better way to this than to roll up our sleeves and give of our time and resources to serve those who need our help?”
This year, the team at Everlytic wanted to get involved with an initiative for Mandela Day that could make a difference. For the team at Everlytic, the Million Meal Challenge was more than a commemoration of the life and legacy of Madiba, it was an opportunity for all of us to honour his life’s work and do something to make the world a better place. Taking two hours out of the office for Mandela Day and donating 67 minutes to a worthy cause is definitely something anyone can do and will contribute to the greater cause of helping others in need.
